Macau Enterprise: Developing AI + Application Scenarios

【Macau News】The Government is currently consulting various sectors on the planned construction of the Macau Integrated Tourism and Culture Zone and the Macau Science and Technology Research and Development Industrial Park. Ng Wai Yan, Chairman of Zenta Group, expressed support for both projects and suggested that the Government should utilize a forward-looking mindset, make good use of AI technology, optimize the projects' software and hardware facilities, and better align with the international community.

Regarding the optimization of the Culture Zone, Ng Wai Yan proposed implementing AI-powered smart navigation and personalized routes, combining AR and VR to enhance immersive cultural experiences. An AI marketing data center and content generation tools could be established to analyze customer segments and promotional effectiveness, quickly produce promotional materials in multiple languages (Chinese, English, Portuguese), and expand the park's brand influence. Concurrently, a "Digital Twin + AI Hub" should be built to monitor pedestrian and vehicle flow, as well as energy consumption, optimize scheduling and maintenance, thereby improving the park's operational efficiency.

Targeting Key Enterprises

The proposal also includes using Video AI for managing parking and pedestrian flow, predicting congestion, and ensuring safety and experience during large-scale events and peak commuting hours. Establishing an "AI Investment Promotion Radar," integrating patent, financing, and industry data, would identify target enterprises globally and within the Greater Bay Area (GBA), supporting precise investment attraction. A multilingual "Smart Investment Assistant" could be developed to answer policy and leasing inquiries, automatically matching venues, subsidies, and university resources based on enterprise needs. He believes Macau’s unique urban structure is highly suitable for developing "AI + Application Scenarios," making life more convenient for residents, providing a smoother experience for tourists, and making small and medium-sized enterprises more resilient.

Regarding the advancement of the Macau Science and Technology Research and Development Industrial Park, Ng Wai Yan analyzed that the deployment of technological innovation and modernization of urban governance is of paramount importance. Over the next three to five years, Macau should focus on "AI + Macau Application Scenarios" as its core direction, promoting the implementation of artificial intelligence across various fields to help Macau enhance operational efficiency and urban resilience within its structure of "small land area, high population density, and numerous tourists." The Group is hopeful of bringing internationally mature technology and compliance experience to Macau, while fully respecting local systems, language, culture, and industry characteristics. It aims to explore a new model of "International Platform + Macau Local Wisdom" in collaboration with the government, industry, and academia, rather than a simple output of products.

Deepening Industry-Academia Cooperation

He put forward four suggestions:

1.     He suggested that, under the premise of clear data security and privacy protection, the Government should encourage various sectors to adopt solutions such as smart customer service, risk warning, crowd prediction, and smart marketing, through the use of testing sandboxes, open APIs, and guiding documents.

2.     Deepen cooperation with higher education institutions, supporting them and enterprises to co-establish "Joint Laboratories" and internship bases, closely integrating AI courses, innovation competitions, and real industry demands to cultivate a batch of compound talents who understand both technology and service industry scenarios.

3.     Taking Macau as the starting point, strengthen multi-dimensional collaboration with the Greater Bay Area, especially the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. This would encourage AI solutions successfully launched in Macau to prioritize more diversified testing and industrialization in Hengqin before extending to GBA cities.

4.     Strengthen international technological cooperation, leveraging the dual advantages of the "China-Portuguese Platform + International Capital." Based on the positioning of "One Platform," explore the extension of AI solutions successfully validated in Macau's hotel, finance, and public service sectors.
